BMW continues the celebrations of its centenary, bringing the Vision Next 100 to Beijing for its Asian debut. The innovative concept is BMW’s vision (no pun intended) for an autonomous future vehicle that can still offer driving pleasure to the driver at the push of a button. The driver can choose between Boost and Ease modes, switching between manual control and full-autonomous driving with the cabin changing its configuration accordingly.
“Our objective with the BMW VISION NEXT 100 was to develop a future scenario that people would engage with,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. “Technology is going to make significant advances, opening up fantastic new possibilities that will allow us to offer the driver even more assistance for an even more intense driving experience.”
Of course, being a concept that wants to give us a slice of the future, BMW tried to add some impressive features like a bodywork that stretches over the front wheel arches and a fully connected AI interface which frees the cabin from the usual digital displays and all the information projected directly on the windshield.
BMW will continue touring the Vision Next 100, with the next stops to be in the UK and USA. The company plans to reveal two further Vision concepts coming from Mini and Rolls Royce, with a Vision motorcycle concept scheduled for reveal in Los Angeles. See more photos after the cut:
